Baptist Prep Family and Friends,

I am writing today to simply assure you that we are vigilant in these challenging days. As I write, our group who has been in the Dominican Republic is headed home.

Our school is closed for the next two weeks, and we do not know yet what will happen at that time. There is so much being said and written. Much of it is very good; but as in all things, you can find varied options and opinions related to the spread of the virus and appropriate behavior. I, as well as our Baptist Prep leadership, will be communicating to you regularly and anytime that it is needed.

In the meantime, let's look to the Arkansas Department of Health for information.  Governor Hutchinson and his staff have been most helpful.

Our responsibility is to the students, parents, staff and family of Baptist Prep. Your safety and education are our priorities. Our principals and I will be in touch. In the meantime, let us exercise our faith in the One whose love casts out fear. Let's seize this opportunity to be exemplary Christians and citizens.

Friends and Family of Baptist Prep,

I prepared, with key Baptist Prep administrators, a letter and plan to send to

you this afternoon. When I heard the governor had planned a press conference, I waited until he stated his actions. We will follow what Governor Hutchinson has ordered. Baptist Prep will close at the end of March 12, 2020, along with all other school and athletic activities and will reopen Monday, March 30, 2020.

At Baptist Prep, we are always aware of our responsibility to be vigilant of the well-being

of our students.  Please understand that we would not make an independent,

uninformed decision.  Our governor’s office and the Arkansas Department of Health is

our lead in regard to decisions related to COVID-19.

We have a plan to continue our student’s education.  We have cyber days we can use if

needed as well as other options if the time should be extended. We are in the process

of getting clarification of what academic day requirements we need to meet because of

these unexpected absences. Our teachers will be informing students of their

assignments if necessary.

I encourage you to be careful in your travels over spring break.  If you travel to certain

areas, you will need to self-report to Baptist Prep; some places may require that you

self-quarantine after returning.  If this happens, our school will work with our students to

continue their school assignments.

Each day, our teachers and staff attempt to keep our rooms clean and

disinfected.  There will be a deep cleaning of the entire building during spring break.  As

with any contagious disease, the best approach is prevention.  Recommendations

include avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth; cover coughs and sneezes; cough

into elbow; clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces; and wash hands often with

soap and water for at least 20 seconds. For more information on the virus, you can go

to this link here:

Thank you for your devotion to and support of Baptist Prep.  As in all things, we want

the very best for our students.
