Momentum for the Future

Currently, in his third year, J. O. Norman serves on the Baptist Prep School Board. We asked him for his thoughts on the state of the school and its future.

“The momentum we’ve had at Baptist Prep this school year has been fun to see and has created an infectious sense of excitement about the future,” shared J. O. Norman, Baptist Prep Board Member. “We are in a position with our staff and administration to offer so much to current and prospective students. I am thankful to have a front-row seat to what is unfolding, and I honestly believe our best days are ahead.”

There has been some change during J. O.’s time as a board member but he mentioned how change can be healthy and necessary.

“The opportunity to work with Dr. Jones and experienced his leadership firsthand has been such a great experience this last year,” continued J. O. “Baptist Prep is a special place for so many reasons. The foremost reason is the sense of family we have at the school. I realize that can sound cliché, but at Baptist Prep the staff and administration live it out through their actions every day. I can’t think of a better way to explain this to a prospective family than to explain to them that their children will be loved, taught, and treated with the same diligence that we all strive for at home.”

J. O. and his wife Tamra have five children, four of whom are currently enrolled at Baptist Prep, with two of them in the Upper School in 10th and 7th grades and two of them in the Lower School in 4th and 3rd grades. Tamra is on staff leading Discipleship and Outreach at First Baptist Little Rock.

“The partnership between the school and church is very important to us,” shared J. O. “We can speak from experience, that the people of First Baptist love the families at Baptist Prep.”

Professionally, J. O. recently started a new career in financial advising as an associate for Edward D. Jones and Company.

Thank you J. O. for the years of service and dedication to Baptist Prep!
