Hola from Curahuasi! We are so excited to be here preparing to minister alongside the Heath family. They are such a loving family taking us in the way they do, preparing the way for us to share the gospel message with intentionality. It has been a phenomenal time reconnecting for the ones that have been here before and then for the newest team members to finally put a face to the personalities that we have so lovingly described for far too long. The Heath's loved receiving the Bible stories that were lovingly colored by many of the students and laminated by Mrs. Justice. They were equally awed over the attention to detail of the paintings done by Coach Thompson’s art classes. We will be making a more formal presentation tomorrow to the children’s home of said paintings. The Peru team has been ministering to students, schools, families, and the communities. We got to be a part of ‘Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes’ for the village of San Valerio. Local pastors must first identify children in need to Samaritans Purse, then request for the shoeboxes. They were only allotted 498 of the 1000 that he requested. Our team did a puppet show for the kids; their little faces really lit up! Afterwards the pastor explained about God’s gift of His Son; he likened the list that Samaritans Purse had with each child’s name on it to the Book of Life where they would also want their name found. We were speechless to see these kids’ faces. Some spoke of the fact that it was the first gift they had ever received. All on the team now can attest to the fact that it is definitely worth the effort and expense to put these together. A final note to let you know we are all well and loving being in Peru.
